- Review - The Venue Derby 28.06.07-
I only decided to go to this gig a week before it was happening, i was just browing thier myspace and saw it and decided on a whim to go. Plus i like to go to local gigs as they always end up being fun. This one was no exception we walked in and i saw my friend Jim from school who i hadnt seen since my birthday which was awesome, then all my other friends showed up and we chatted etc.
The 1st support act was a local band called
Element 104. The drummers dad had been pestering me sort of at work to see them and i hadnt managed to see them due to work so i was killing 2 birds with one stone kinda.... Anyways they were pretty good, i also found out i worked with the lead singer of the band.. random fact for you there. Anyways they were pretty good and all the 14 year old kids at the front seemed to agree with them.. which was good in my book. The next support act was Saving Grace, they were a lot more mellower then Element 104 but were really enjoyable.
The supports were on for about an hour in total. We went to get food, there was about 60 kids there with thier parents in the back... i was suddenly aware that my friends and I were probably the oldest people there, with my boyfriend being 25...
Anyways the band came on to the music from Pirates of the Carribbean, which i thought was pure genius.. i adore the Pirates triology. I cant remember all the songs they performed, All i can remember is Jessica, Jacky Jules, Last Call to NYC, Parellel Worlds, each song was performed fantasically, they literally stormed through their set.
It was over before i knew it. We stuck around for a bit, my friend Kerry was desperate to meet them. It was worth hanging around. They guys are really nice, they were really approachable and happy to talk to people which was a breath of fresh air, ive met a few bands and they basically dont say a word, just sign something and have a photo taken, so that was really cool.
Sorry this review is sucky i saw them in June and im only writing this is Septmber..
